Tungsten. and the Mining Industry
Tungsten is stable in air up to 350°C, but begins to oxidize above Above 800°C, rapid oxidation takes place with formation of WO 3, which sublimes. For use at high temperatures, tungsten parts must be coated, used in a vacuum, or be surrounded by a protective atmosphere oC, for example, types of heating elements.
